Confidentiality Policy
Your Records Are Safe With Us
We ask for information about yourself so that you can receive the best possible care and treatment. We keep this record, together with details of your care, to ensure that your doctor or nurse has accurate and up to date information. It may also be needed if we see you again. With your consent, we only use or pass on information about you to people who have a genuine need for it, such as when referring you to a hospital specialist. Everyone working for the NHS has a legal duty to maintain the highest level of confidentiality about patient information.
If at any time you would like to know more about how we use your information you can speak to Lynn Garraway our Practice Manager. Alternatively, please ask reception for a copy of the practice leaflet entitled "Your Health Record, Protecting Your Information."
Can I see my health record?
Yes, you can. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 everyone is able to see the information that is kept on his or her medical records. If you wish to see your record, please just ask and we will tell you what to do. You are also entitled to ask for a copy of the information that you have seen, although charges may apply for the time and admininstration involved.
Will I see all my information?
Usually yes, although very rarely there may be a medical or legal reason why we cannot share everything with you, such as if it is felt that seeing your records might put your health at risk.
